Partner Visa
Partner Visa in Australia allows the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live, work, and study in Australia. Partner Visa is available to both married couples and de facto couples. It’s designed for individuals who are in a genuine and continuing relationship with their Australian partner.

Eligibility : Must be outside Australia; intend to marry an Australian citizen or PR; relationship must be genuine; health and character requirements.
Duration : Up to 9 months from the date of grant.
Permissions : Travel to Australia; work and study; marry your sponsor and apply for a partner visa.
Special Conditions : Must marry your sponsor while the visa is valid to apply for a partner visa onshore.
For spouses or de facto partners of Australian citizens or PRs applying from outside Australia.
Eligibility : Genuine relationship with an Australian partner; meet relationship, health and character criteria.
Duration : 309 is temporary until 100 is granted (usually 2 years). 100 is permanent.
Permissions : Live, work and study in Australia while awaiting permanent stage.
Special Conditions : Must remain in a genuine relationship; processing can take over a year.
For spouses or de facto partners of Australians applying from within Australia.
Eligibility : Same as 309/100, but applicant must be in Australia at time of application and grant.
Duration : 820 is temporary for ~2 years; 801 is permanent.
Permissions : Live, work and study in Australia; Medicare access.
Special Conditions : Bridging visa granted while waiting for 820 if current visa expires
Subclass 300 - Prospective Marriage Visa
It is a temporary visa for nine months. You must be outside Australia when you lodge your application and when the visa is granted. You can have the wedding in any country: the wedding does not need to be in Australia.
Subclass 309 - Partner (Provisional) Visa and Subclass 100 - Partner Migrant Visa
The Partner (Provisional) visa (subclass 309) is the first stage towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 100).
Subclasses 820 and 801 - Partner Visas
The temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) is the first stage towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).
