Applications for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme in Perth are closed, pending review, as the newly elected Labor government announced it intends to remove Perth from the list of approved regional locations for RSMS applications.
The scheme was developed by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to allow skilled migrants to fill employment vacancies where there is a genuine need for paid employment.
RSMS allows employers in regional Australian to nominate skilled migrants to fill full time vacancies for a minimum of two years, if there is a genuine need for a paid employee. Employers are required to undergo assessment by an RSMS certifying body to nominate a skilled worker under the direct entry scheme.
Applications received before the suspension (13 March 2017) will still be processed according to the RSMS guidelines active at the time of submission, these include Perth RSMS applications.
